What this policy covers

This policy explains what information DataSplit handles when you use it. The short version: everything the app counts and stores stays on your iPhone. There is no server, there are no accounts, there is no advertising, and the app contains no analytics of any kind.

Data we collect

None. DataSplit does not collect, sell, use, or disclose any user data to any third party, for any purpose. There is no server, no account system, no analytics, and no third party SDKs. Your usage totals, network names, budgets, and settings are stored only on your device, in the app’s own storage. We cannot see them, and neither can anyone else.

How the protection works

To count and pause data, DataSplit uses the network tools built into iOS. There is no server behind the protection: packets are counted on your device and sent straight out over your normal connection. Only packet sizes, protocol numbers, addresses, and ports are read. The content of your traffic is never read, never stored, and never transmitted anywhere; only the amount of data is counted, on the device.

Network names

To keep a budget per network, DataSplit remembers the networks your device connects to: Wi-Fi names, SIM buckets, and wired adapters, together with their usage history and budget settings. This network memory lives only on your device.

Location permission

iOS only reveals the name of the current Wi-Fi network to apps with location access or an active protection configuration. DataSplit may therefore ask for location access once, purely to read the Wi-Fi name. Your location itself is never read, never stored, and never sent anywhere.

Name lookups

While the protection is on, website name lookups are resolved by Cloudflare DNS, with Google DNS as a fallback. Like any DNS resolver they see the names being looked up, and nothing else; your traffic never passes through them. You can read Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

App blocking and Screen Time

The optional app blocking feature works through the Screen Time controls of iOS. You pick the apps in a picker provided by Apple, and DataSplit never learns which apps you picked; iOS keeps that choice to itself. Screen Time access is requested only when you turn the feature on, and you can withdraw it at any time in iOS Settings under Screen Time.

Notifications

Budget warnings and status updates are generated locally on your device. They are optional, each category has its own switch in the app, and nothing about them leaves your phone.

Data retention

Everything DataSplit saves lives on your iPhone, and deleting the app deletes all of it. If you back up your device, the app’s data is included in that backup like any other app’s, under Apple’s terms.

Children

DataSplit is made for a general audience. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and it contains no ads, no chat, and no user content.

Third party services

The complete list is short: Cloudflare and Google resolve name lookups as described above, and Apple distributes the app and operates the iOS permissions it uses. There are no ad networks, no analytics providers, and no tracking of any kind.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data. DataSplit makes this simple: we hold nothing about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct, or erase. Everything the app knows sits on your device, and deleting the app removes it. You can still email us with any privacy question or request.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s behavior changes in a way that matters for privacy, this page and the date above will be updated before or alongside that change.
