About these terms

These terms cover your use of the DataSplit app and this website. They are deliberately short, because the app is simple to reason about: no accounts, no subscriptions, no user content, and nothing stored anywhere but your device.

Accepting the terms

By downloading or using DataSplit you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app.

What DataSplit does

DataSplit counts internet data on your iPhone and enforces the budgets you set: it can warn you, slow the connection down, pause data entirely, and block apps you selected through Screen Time. You set the rules, and you can change or remove them at any time in the app.

Counting accuracy

DataSplit measures traffic on the device, which is very close to what your carrier measures, but not identical. Carrier meters add radio overhead and rounding, Personal Hotspot traffic can only be estimated, and in rare cases an app can send traffic outside the counted path. The amounts on your provider’s bill are decisive, not the amounts in the app. On plans where going over costs money, use a safety buffer and keep an eye on your provider’s own meter.

No guarantee against charges

DataSplit exists to help you avoid overage charges, but it cannot guarantee that. You remain responsible for all charges from your network provider, including data, roaming, and overage fees.

Paused data and connectivity

When a budget runs out, DataSplit pauses internet data until you give it more room. That is the point of the app, but it means the internet on your device can be unavailable or slowed down by rules you set earlier. Do not rely on a budgeted connection in situations where losing connectivity could cause harm. Pausing affects internet data only; regular cellular calls and SMS text messages are not part of the data path the app manages.

One protection at a time

iOS allows only one app at a time to manage the connection the way DataSplit does. While DataSplit’s protection is on, another app of that kind cannot run, and starting one turns the protection off.

Price, purchases, and ads

DataSplit currently contains no advertising and no in-app purchases. If that ever changes, the App Store listing and these terms will say so clearly before you pay for anything.

Intellectual property

DataSplit, including its code, design, and name, belongs to its developer. You get a personal, non-transferable license to use the app. Do not copy, resell, or redistribute the app or its assets.

Disclaimer

DataSplit is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that the app will always be available, bug free, or compatible with every device or network.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of DataSplit. That expressly includes charges from your network provider, costs or losses caused by data being paused or slowed down, by apps being blocked, or by counting that differs from your provider’s meter.

Termination

You can stop using DataSplit at any time by deleting the app; that also deletes everything it stored. We may update or discontinue the app or these terms; a new version of the terms applies from the moment it is published on this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.
